Excitement continues to build ahead of the 2013 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship which kicks off next month as national manufacturer, Modenas announced their return following a two-year hiatus.
Modenas which was last seen in 2010 in fact returns strong with two teams on the grid, Modenas RS Moto Racing Team and Modenas Cilik Racing Team for the 2013 season.
Modenas RS Moto Racing Team led by former Cub Prix rider, Mohd Rafie Nasir will heat things up in the CP115 class while the latter focuses on the WIRA under the guidance of Razali Ahmad, a familiar face in the Cub Prix paddock and father to upcoming CP130 rider, Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali.
Representing RS Moto Racing Team in the intermediate category are 2009 Malaysian MotoGP wildcard finalist, Mohd Farid Ahmad, Mohd Fhahmin Abd Mutalib and Mohd Hafizzuddin Azahar.
Separately, Cilik Racing Team on the other hand fields young upcoming riders, Noor Edrin Ezurin Noor Asmara, Mohd Aziq Jumali, Mohd Amim Abu Osman and Mohd Afiki Supaat.
Although the local manufacturer has been absent for two years, Razali maintains an optimistic mindset, both teams are capable of shaking up the grid.
"I am confident with Modenas and it's capabilities. Despite being absent from the Championship in the past two seasons, we have continuously worked with the machines and now with full factory support, fighting for a top five finish in several races this year is not unrealistic," said Razali.
